What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I feel my magazine would be published by companies such as ipcmedia and would have great similarities with magazines such as 'NME'. However the magazine in which as most in common with would have to be 'Kerrang' eventhough it is a darker brand of music then what my magazine promotes, it has the closest use of elements and presentation. This magazine is published by the Bauer company which i feel, their sister company, MarketForce would distribute my particular magazine also, as it bares many similarities with some of their own music magazines.

I am also aware that Kerrang's audience profile also matches my own 'individually minded, independant of thought and musically experienced, an audienced defined by attitude, passion and loyalty.'
Futhermore, Bauer Media has over nineteen million UK readers and have eight influential media brands spanning out with advertisment. These include other magazines, radio and television involving 'The Big City' network which has twenty local radio stations. Bauer believes in creating a personal relationship with its readers and listeners in order to advertise compelling content however nessecary. Bauer believe that this approach helps to expand and develop them into a increasingly successful buisness. However Bauer Media primary role now a days is to produce magazines such as 'take a break' and 'womans weekly' which consist of mostly gossip colums and reality stories to attract a female audience.

Places which might sell a product such as mine would be news agents or consumer shops such as WHSmiths.

  1. Good, although you mean IPC Media would PUBLISH your mag. If they were to distribute it too they they would use their sister distribution company, called MarketForce.
